Disciple Women’s Project and All of You - March 2018
We’ve Been Challenged!
Are you ready? The answer is – Yes, we are! This month we compete (as friends, of course) with the congregations of First Baptist, First Presbyterian and Wesley United Methodist to provide the most food and paper products for LEAC as well as the student pantry of LCC.
Be thankful you have to get up in the morning and go to work. When you come home and sit down to your table set with a good, hot, nutritious meal or maybe hot chocolate or popcorn later while you watch TV before you take your warm bath and get in your warm bed in your nice, warm home-Be thankful.
Every month you fill our shopping cart in the Narthex to feed hungry families who, themselves are challenged every day to put food on the table-lost jobs, sickness, high utility bills, low income or mounting bills that just keep coming in.
Let us challenge each other to bring food, lots of food, to place in front of the Sanctuary. You all have big hearts full of love, compassion and gratitude that you can feed your families-and someone else.
Life is not easy. Choices have to be made. Food is a necessity, not a luxury. As Jesus said, “When I was hungry, you fed me”. Let’s not disappoint our heavenly Father. God has blessed us richly-now it is our turn to bless others.
Did I say if we win, or I should say, when we win, we’ll get a trophy? Yay! Go Church Family-we love you.

Safe Haven Outreach Mission
Safe Haven, Parsons’ homeless shelter, opens their door to those who have no place to go – no place to call home. Safe Haven is directed by Melissa Brown, a loving, compassionate woman who “lives” her job, 24 hours a day. (Bless her loving heart.) Where do you go when you have no job, no money, no food? Anyone can become homeless due to job loss, fires, floods, large medical bills – the reasons are many. Some occupants are drug or alcohol addicted; some are displaced military veterans – some are families who have fallen on hard times. All trying to get back on their feet and turn their lives around. Not all succeed – strict rules must be followed to live there. Housing only 8 people at a time, sadly, many are turned away every day. Carefully screened, applicants receive shelter, food, medical care, help in finding a job and even help in transitioning to an apartment or house complete with furniture (donated by caring people like you) when they are ready to be on their own. We are blessed with our warm homes, comfortable beds, and our loving families. Are you your brother’s keeper? Show your love, your compassion and your generosity.
