Quiet space on a summer day
“Rest is not idleness,” said John Lubbock, “and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water or watching the clouds float across the sky is hardly a waste of
time.” Most of us need more, not less, rest built into our daily routine. Only when we are quiet can we hear God’s whisper.
Summer is a great time to find a peaceful, outdoor spot to read, rest and pray – even if only for a few minutes. God is eagerly waiting for us to make space for him. Read more.

Whatever the weather
No matter the forecast, weather can remind us of God’s presence:
When it’s sunny, remember that Jesus is the light of the world (John 8:12).
When it’s cloudy, remember that God often spoke to and guided his people from a cloud (Exodus 13:21-22).
During a thunderstorm, remember the thunder and lightning when God beckoned Moses to Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:16).
When it rains or snows, remember that God’s Word serves his purpose just as precipitation does (Isaiah 55:10-11).
When it’s windy, remember that “a wind from God” came at Creation (Genesis 1:2), and God’s Holy Spirit arrived at Pentecost like a mighty wind (Acts 2:2).
Happy 145th Anniversary
June 4th (Pentecost Sunday) we will be celebrating the 145th year anniversary of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Parsons, Ks. We will have cake and punch
after worship. If you have any pictures or mementoes from the church you would like to share, please bring them to the church office so we can display them during our celebration. We encourage everyone to wear the color red that day to signify the coming of the Holy Spirit.
”CHANGE” makes a difference”
Hannah’s Promise in Parsons is a home for unwed mothers. These young women are facing the biggest decision of their lives – do I keep this baby? Can I alone support a child financially and emotionally, or should I relinquish this precious baby to a loving, childless couple desperate to be parents? This is a heart breaking decision to have to make.
Living in a home in a Christ-like atmosphere that provides a personalized life plan, they attend school or work, learn about parenting, nutrition, budgeting, and many other helpful services.
Will you sign up and take a baby bottle, available in the Narthex, that can be used for donations? Keep it all month, and fill it with change, bills, or a check. Hannah’s Promise calls this project “CHANGE makes a difference”.
Our monetary donations make all the difference to those choosing life for their babies.
We invite the congregation to join the Disciples’ Women Project, if they wish, to support this life-changing decision during Mother’s Day month. May we ask for your support? We are a loving, caring congregation. You have proven that many times. Bless you!
