October was a busy month; I hope you had the opportunity to participate in all the events and services that caught your attention. November will be memorable as well. We will have a chance to light a candle before church and during the prelude for the Saints we remember in our lives. All Saints Sunday is the 5th and we will honor the 8 people we have said goodbye to this year. And don't forget the time change!
If you are a Veteran or active duty remember to bring in or email a picture for Ruth to scan as we honor those who served our country on Sunday the 12th. How about some soup and fun on the 19th? After worship there will be glue guns at work as we make feathery decorations for our Angels Among Us worship series; and on the 26th everyone is invited to help decorate the church after worship.
From our Pastor:
What a wonderful September we have shared together. Thanks to everyone who made my Installation Sunday so amazing. I even got to ride in the "rumble seat" of Ron Little's beautifully refurbished Model T. The food, the ice cream, the program and Rev. Steve Martin's sermon and participation were fabulous.
CYF is so much fun - what a great bunch of kids. There is so much going on here at FCCP, it's hard to get it all in the newsletter. Sunday mornings are our best chance to share in the excitement and spread the news. This month we will focus on Generosity as we journey as
Christians together in the world. Dr. Clark Williamson reminds us that the "Good News is the promise that God's love is freely, graciously, offered to each and all; and our response is to love God with our whole being and to do justice to our neighbors as ourselves."
Following the way of Jesus includes responding to God's love with generous love for others. I think it is powerful each fall, when the abundance of harvest and blessing abound, that we take a little time to reflect on how we are called to participate and engage in this community where we live, as stewards of God's blessings. See you at the Table!
