Matthew 19:13 Then little children were being brought to him in order that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples spoke sternly to those who brought them; 14 but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” 15 And he laid his hands on them and went on his way.
Jesus had time for children. Amazing isn’t it.? I mean with all Jesus was doing to usher in the Kingdom of God, all those he had to touch, heal, and teach, he had time for children. It is amazing but there is much more. He said “it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”
We as a church, the body of Christ, want and need children and their families. Why? It is part of our mission for the kingdom to make disciples, it brings energy to the church, and it brings new voices, hands and feet for God’s work. If we do not reach out to them, no matter where they come from, we are not doing what God has asked of us and the church suffers and can die.
This fall I hope we will pull together to reestablish a youth and young adult program for this church. To do this it will take everyone helping, even in little ways. If you believe this church needs to extend its hand in love to the youth and their families of this community and if you believe your hands and heart are called to help with this please meet with me on Sunday August 14th after church. There we will ask God’s blessing on our work and start planning for the future.
In Christ’s Name and Service, Pastor Paul
